The Kashish Foundation, Patiala is organizing a day long event on June 1 on AIDS awareness among the MSM, Transgender and Hijra (MTH) community. The “Ek Jung HIV/AIDS ke Khilaf” will be a statewide event that will see around 800 members of the MTH community take part in a variety of programs at the Thapar University Auditorium in Patiala.
Presided over by Surjit Singh Rakhra, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat, Punjab, the event will also see the Mayor, the Deputy Commissioner and the Civil Surgeon being present amongst the dignitaries.
Events like advocacy, lectures based on health education and human rights will blend with entertaining street plays designed to raise HIV/AIDS awareness, Punjabi Gidda and Bhangra and a fashion show to showcase the talent and creativity of the MTH population.
Through innovative programs like condom promotion canopy, HIV testing and counseling, and a medical camp, Kashish Foundation is trying to provide support to the underground community and help them live a life of dignity.
