Monica Das, a 24 year old transgender from Patna, has become India’s first transgender banker. According to a report in Live Hindustan, Monica is employed with Syndicate Bank as a clerk.
Monica had joined the bank in October 2014, and on 3rd June submitted an affidavit in the bank stating that she is a transgender. The Bank Manager too has praised Monica for her work and courage and promised support.
Monica holds an LLB and did her schooling from Navodya Vidyalaya, but had a tough time at school due to the constant teasing and bullying. Despite that, she kept her focus on her studies. However, her brothers are not happy with her decision and have stopped talking to her.
