A Gay techie working for a Noida based IT company was found dead at his Safdarjung Enclave house in Delhi on 18th Nov. The victim was smothered to death and police suspect the role of one of his partners in the murder, though they have not ruled out a gay hate crime angle yet.
“Initial medical observations confirmed that the deceased used to have ‘unnatural sex’. We have also recovered condoms from the scene of crime. Also, the body was found in a semi-naked state when cops reached the spot,” a senior police official of South district, who is investigating the case, told Mail Today.
The victim used to live with a room-mate, who would work day shifts, while the victim had opted for work-from-home. On the day of the crime, his room-mate was out of station. When the victim did not report for work, a colleague came to check on him and discovered his body.
No expensive goods were stolen from the house, as confirmed by his room-mate, and investigators have also not found any clue of forceful entry. “Our investigation has shown that the murderer did not break into the house and after committing the crime he simply walked away. Also, the victim died due to suffocation and the murderer could have killed him by suffocating him with a pillow,” a police official told Mail Today. They also feel the murder could have been committed by someone close who might have had issues with his sexual orientation.
