Doordarshan, the government owned public broadcaster of India, will be telecasting documentary “In Mood For Love” on DD1 on 4th June at 2 pm. The 28 minute documentary is directed by Sandeep Kr. Singh & Aakriti Kohli and focuses on queer relationships, and explores queer love and relationships, togetherness, love, sexuality and illegality in India.
In Mood For Love was produced by PSBT (Public Service Broadcasting Trust, India), a non-governmental and not-for-profit trust that is primarily funded by Prasar Bharati and had its premiere in 2015 at the Open Frame Film Festival held in New Delhi.
This would be the third Indian documentary on queer issues that is being telecast on the National Channel of Doordarshan. Earlier Pramada Menon’s documentary titled “And You Thought You Knew Me” about five People Assigned Gender Female at Birth was also telecast on the channel . Sridhar Rangayan’s documentary on Lesbian, Bisexual and Trans (LBT) women Purple Skies was telecast on DD 1 in February and March 2015.
