A 17 year old differently-abled boy studying at a government aided school in Delhi was allegedly sexually abused by his teacher on school premises on 19 Sep.
Police said the teacher, Bilal Ahmed, had tried to assault the Class XI student last year as well, but had been unsuccessful in his attempts. This time again, the teacher called the boy in an empty classroom on some pretext and then assaulted him.
In his statement before the police, the boy has said that the teacher had threatened that he would fail him in his subject if he revealed the incident to anyone. After the assault, the teenager narrated the incident to his family, who approached a member of the school’s governing body and then registered a police complaint.
Police have booked the teacher under POSCO Act, Section 342(wrongful confinement), Sec 377 (unnatural intercourse) and Section 506 (criminal intimidation). He has been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Police are also trying to ascertain if any other students too had been assaulted by him. An enquiry has been set up by the Directorate of Education, and any negligence on the part of the school is also being looked at.
