The Chennai Pride is scheduled for this Sunday, June 28th, and the city is gearing up for the mega rainbow event with a slew of events over the weekend as part of the rainbow pride month.
The city has already organised a number of events throughout June, including two theatrical performances by queer artists, a LGBTQ literature reading event, storytelling and sensitisation events. It is planning to follow it up with Vannangal, a queer cultural festival on Saturday and the main pride event on Sunday, which will commence from Rajaratnam stadium in the heart of the city from 3pm.
This will be the seventh edition of the event that also sees participation from nearby cities and towns, including Pondicherry and Bangalore. The celebrations will end in July with the Chennai International Queer Film Festival, which will run for three days from July 24 to 26 at the Goethe Institute.
