QAM (email: qam.editorial@gmail.com) is a collective collaboration of nonprofit organizations and individuals formed with an objective of celebrating gender diversity and equal rights of sexual minorities (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender) by organizing queer-friendly activities and events. Mumbai Pride 2015 (email: info@mumbaipride.in) is one such initiative successfully organized since 2005 with great support from government agencies, media, celebrities, corporates and people from all walks of life.
The 2015 Mumbai Pride month (detailed calendar on Facebook and website) will see various events like the recently concluded Queer Games by Yaariyan; coming up are Q Fest by Queer Ink, Kite Flying and Family Meet by Gaybombay, surprise Flashmob and Gulaabi Mela by Yaariyan, Queer Premier League cricket match by Umang, EK Madhavbaug play performance by Humsafar, Best of Kashish screening of selected out of many outstanding films from the International Kashish Film Festival, photo exhibition Pictures against Prejudice, dance performances by Dancing Queens, Amazing Q Hunt by Queer Adda and finally the Mumbai LGBT Pride Walk on Saturday, January 31, 2015.
QAM requests donations, anonymously or otherwise through Wishberry. Around INR 64,000 (around US$1000 or 25% of the overall funding target) is yet to be achieved before the January 12, 2015 deadline. Donation is by credit or debit card / online, or by a cheque or cash pick facility (for some cities). Those outside India may donate online only. There are attractive rewards for certain contribution amounts QAM welcomes everyone to participate in all these events, and share joy, ideas and experiences to help achieve equal rights and recognition.
