US president Barack Obama kicked off the International Gay Games being held in Cleveland through a video message.
Welcoming the delegates and athletes to Ohio and USA, President Obama said, “It’s been remarkable to see the games thrive over the years.” He further talked about the change in America over the years, and advancement of LGBT rights in the country. “We have come a long way in our commitment to LGBT people here and around the world.” He lauded the athletes for their courage and assured them that USA stands for their rights. He said, “I know some of you have come from place where it require courage and even defiance to come out, even at great personal risks. You should know United Stands with you and for your human rights.”
