50 Dead in Gay Nightclub Shootout in Orlando, ISIS Claims Responsibilty

In one of the deadliest mass shootings in USA, atleast 50 people were killed when a gunman opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Another 53 have been injured so far.

The gunman has been identified as Omar Mateen and had been questioned by the FBI twice for susupected terrorist links, but had been found not to be a threat. Mateen carried out the attack around 2 am on Sunday and had taken hostages as well. The gunman was shot dead after police team used armored cars to storm the club.

US President Barack Obama has called it as an act of terror and hate, “We know enough to say this was an act of terror and act of hate.”

Meanwhile Mateen’s father recalled that he has got particularly angry at seeing two men kissing in Miami. ISIS has claimed that “the armed attack that targeted a gay night club in the city of Orlando in the American state of Florida and that bore more than a 100 killed and wounded was carried out by an Islamic state fighter.”
