A 43-year old gay Indian man married his 35-year old partner of Vietnamese origin according to Hindu tradition in a private ceremony held in Maharashtra’s Yavatmal, according to a report inMumbai Mirror.
Hrishi Sathawane, an IIT Bombay graduate currently working as a Marketing Strategist in California, met his partner Vinh via an online dating website in October 2016 and got engaged soon. However, Hrishi’s parents, who belong to Yavatmal, insisted on a traditional Hindu marriage for their son at their hometown. The duo got married in Dec 2017 in a private ceremony held in Yavatmal that was attended by close friends and family. The ceremony involved an exchange of rings and garlands with the Mangalashtak (a form of mantras as per Hindu tradition) playing online.
Hrishi told Mumbai Mirror: “I prefer calling it a commitment ceremony and not marriage. For me it’s more important that I share vows with Vinh in front of my loved ones.”
