On the occasion of Transgender Day of Visibility yesterday, The Queer Muslim Project shared the story of Adam, a young trans man from Kochi, Kerala.
Adam tells that he was rejected by his family for his trans identity. He was studying to be a pilot in Johannesburg when his family found out about his gender identity, and upon his return to India, he was put under house arrest and had to face mental and physical abuse at the hands of his orthodox Muslim family. He finally ran away and found a job at an aviation academy.
