Gentlemen’s Fashion Trends: Sunglasses

cropped_5099_1399449607

Gone are the days when Sunglasses were a weapon used to prevent the nasty summer rays from getting into eyes. With that still prevailing, sunglasses becomes style essential today and may be a status symbol too, otherwise we wouldn’t see only Anna Wintour wearing sunglasses at Marc Jacobs front row while most other sit bare-eyed. I’d pretty honestly say I am an accessory man. I mean I’d just love to be in possession of alluring accessories irrespective of how much events I get to flaunt them. But when It comes to sunglasses, I owe two pairs of Wayfarers in black and in white. I saw the point in having more pairs of sunglasses but I have been very choosy lately and do not end up finding the right pair of sunglasses. I am sure as hell that being a metro sexual guy, you end up in a similar situation quite a lot. So I am going to present the types of sunglasses that will go well with your face tone.

On short note, there are basically 3 types of sunglasses for men that hit the market namely round glass, wayfarer and aviators. Aviators were pretty famous in 60s bollywood movies and then faded until they made massive entry with the movie Race. Wayfarers have been pretty famous these days; is unisex from of glasses and are staple for today’s youth. Round sunglasses still remains alien concept for Indian men with very less Indian men wearing them, mainly due to limited availability and the perception that they are meant for women. (Trust me they are not!)

To be able to pick up the right sunglasses, one must be aware of his face tone – chicks, jaw tone etc. Further; your skin tone also plays a vital role in selecting the perfect shade of particular type.

Analysing the Face Tone

Square Shape Face

Square face is defined by a strong jaw line and wide chick bones. Rounded and aviator style sunglasses suits this face tone. Rectangular shaped frames with soft edge is a perfect choice for this face tone and ensures minimum details (least possible funky details)

Round Shaped Face

You are privileged to experiment as much as possible with your face. Any type of sunglasses will do except Round shape for your face tone. Pick one with wider frames than your face to make your face look skinnier, for example wayfarer or rectangular shaped glasses.

Oblong face shape

Your face is said to be oblong if it is long in height and skinny in width. Keep in mind to balance the face with the sunglasses. Look for something that doesn’t go beyond widest part of your face. Round or square frame will be the perfect option. Make sure that the frame fits perfectly to your face.

Diamond Shaped Face

Jennifer Lopez is the perfect example to quote for Diamond shaped face. The type is defined by sharp chin, wide chick bones & forehead. Rectangular frame will perfectly offset the attention of pointed chin. To be more clear, Detailing and Basic & strong colours will draw more attention to eyes and less to pointed chicks.

Oval Face Shape

Eva Mendes is the perfect example of Oval Face Shape. People with this face style are considered to be lucky as it is a rare breed. Those of you lucky ones must try with as many styles and variety possible. Everything in the name of sunglasses will suit your face. Longer frames will flaunt the beauty of your face.
