Renowned author and mythologist Devdutt Pattanaik has written extensively on Hindu myths, stories and Hindu text. Gaylaxy sat down with Devdutt to talk about how Hinduism views queer people and sexuality. We also spoke to him about his books Shikhandi – And Other Queer Tales they Don’t Tell You and I am Divine So Are You.
In the video, he talks about how the focus of religion has changed over the years, why he chose to write Shikhandi, and how the book I am Divine So Are Youlooks at religion as an ally and not an adversary to LGBTQ people, and can help queer people reconcile their faith and sexuality.
