May 15th is celebrated as International Day of Families, and to mark the occasion, a plethora of LGBT Muslim leaders from across the world came together to give out the message that LGBT Muslims deserve love, companionship and respect. In a Huffpost blog, Junaid Jahangir writes: “Given the immense amount of duress LGBT Muslim have to face that often leads to cognitive dissonance and unhealthy choices, many Muslim leaders, straight and queer, have banded together to send out a strong message that every Muslim without exception deserves to be loved and respected.”
