Gaylaxy collaborated with Pehchaan, the social awareness campaign of IIT-Delhi’s Rendezevous 2016 in October last year. Renedezvous is the annual cultural fest of IIT Delhi that was held between 21st October to 24th October 2016, and thousands of students from all over India came to take part in it. As part of its Pehchaan program, IIT Delhi students had taken out a march in Delhi University’s North campus in support of LGBT rights from St. Stephen’s College to Hans Raj College, and a lot of DU students participated in the march. Gaylaxy editor Sukhdeep Singh was invited to speak to the students at the end of the march.
But we decided to engage further with the students coming to IIT Delhi’s Rendezvous, and went to the campus on 23rd Oct, where we not just went around talking to the students regarding LGBT rights, but also gave them various situations to check what their response will be. The situations varied from dealing with a friends coming out, to imagining oneself as gay/lesbian and proposing to another friend. Check out what they had to say:
