It’s not a disease that
needs to be cured,
not a bad habit that
ought to be spanked off,
not a ‘preference’ that
can be changed at will.
It’s not a religion that
one can be converted into,
not an epidemic that
spreads from a soul to the next.
It’s not a lifestyle that
comes into fashion and then goes out,
not a phase that simply
needs to be grown out of.
It’s not a sin that needs
to be cleansed in fire or holy water,
not a sign of insanity that
goes with a few electric jolts.
It’s in me, and not about me.
It’s just a part of me, not Me.
