Poem: I Set Myself Free

My tears have dried,
It’s very lonely inside.
The iron cage is icy cold,
My wings have become weak and old.
My feathers are too bright,
I come from the light.
This is not where I belong,
What did I do wrong?
Deafening silence wraps me tight,
I can’t breathe, I lie inside quite.
The darkness swallows me,
My vision gets blurred, I can’t see .
I can’t take it anymore, I am in a rage
I bang against the rod and break the cage,
My body is weak, but my spirit is high,
The rainbow calls me and to its bosom I fly.
