Poem: Funeral of a Heart

I strangled my heart
Hoping its breaths would stop
Covered its remains
In a rainbow shroud
Said my prayers
Said my goodbyes
But hearts are stubborn creatures
You can only lock them up
You can’t kill them
Probably that’s why
Closets are made
