Aruna Desai had no inkling of what her son Abhishek was going to tell her. Abhishek, her only son and all of 17, asked her to sit down, and told her he was gay. Till that point, Aruna didn’t know what gay meant. But she was firm that she loves her son unconditionally, and wouldn’t desert him. As she understood more about LGBT things, she was aghast to know how some parents treated their queer child. She decided she had to do something to change things.
